The only difference is the color, including the keyboard (which makes mine the special edition), a smaller (160gb versus 120gb in mine) hard drive, and the possibility of 802.11 draft N in mine. If you possess two Macbooks that have FireWire, you can connect them so that one of them appears as an external hard disk on the other. I also got a little PCMCIA remote for the thing, which I never got to try because it has not arrived yet.įrom the looks of it, the two machines are nearly identical. Target Disk Mode is helpful for accessing the contents of a Macbook that can’t be booted from its own operating system.
FIREWIRE CABLE FOR TARGET DISK MODE CRACKED
I was going to keep it, because I had replaced the screen, using a 14" from an 1100, who's casing is cracked around the hinges from the size (but it works, same cable), I had installed for her, and shortly afterwards she got the HP and gave this one to me with everything, including the box. But now it's mine sans power adapter (which was just found and is being mailed to me as we speak). In fact, the 5160 was hers, but she got that HP for nothing. The touch sensitive media controls are to die for, but those blue LEDs might get a little distracting. I know because I was talking to my friend with an iMac G5 iSight, and he said it's very clear, a lot clearer than the one he has, and the quickcam chat I currently own. The webcam is also great for a consumer machine. I also like the quickplay, though I am sad it no longer can be activated without booting windows.

The remote, I love how it fits conveniently in the expresscard slot, that's a big win over the macbooks. My girlfriend has the dv2610us, nearly identical, and I love it.
